Overview

No trip to the Indian subcontinent is complete without a visit to South India. This culturally and linguistically diverse region is a popular destination for tourists. A South India travel package typically includes cities such as Bangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Pondicherry, Chidambaram, Thanjavur, Madurai, Thekkady, Kumarakom, Alleppey, Cochin and Mumbai. With a range of sightseeing tours and excursions available, you can get a close-up view of the regal side of South India.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Bangalore Airport, our representative will meet you and transfer to the hotel, and the rest of the day is free for leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel. 

In the morning, post breakfast, an excursion to various attractions of Bangalore will start at Vidhan Sabha - the architecture of the building is influenced by the Neo-Dravidian style. Later, visit the Bangalore Palace, built in the year 1887. The Tudor style of architecture is used in the construction of the palace. You may also visit the palace and the fort of Tipu Sultan, the architecture reflecting the ethnic Mughal era. Later proceed to Lalbagh Botanical Garden and ISKCON Temple.

After breakfast, drive to Mysore, the garden city. After check-in at the hotel, ready for sightseeing at The Mysore Palace, St. Philomena's Church, Jaganmohan Palace, Chamundi temple on top of Chamundi Hills and the Brindavan Garden. In the evening, explore the colourful Devaraja vegetable and fruit market. Overnight stay at the hotel. 

After breakfast, transfer to the hotel in Chennai. Here freshen up and take a sightseeing tour of Chennai covering Marina Beach, Saint George Fort, which is used as the state government secretariat, Santhome Cathedral, Kapaleeswarar Temple, and Parthasarathy Temple. Overnight in Chennai.

After breakfast, checkout & drive to Pondicherry. On arrival, transfer to the hotel. In the evening, you can explore the Tamil Quarter located across the canal. This area is known for its vibrant markets and boutique shops, which offer a great shopping experience.

Today post breakfast, explore Pondicherry, Visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Bharathidasan Memorial Museum, Pondicherry Museum & Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus; this Catholic Church is one of the finest churches of Pondicherry and an excellent example of Gothic architecture. Evening at leisure, or you can have a Rickshaw Ride through French colonies and Commercial Streets. Overnight in Pondicherry.

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Chidambaram. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and get ready for sightseeing. You visit the Chidambaram Natarajar Temple, Gangaikonda Cholapuram and North Gopuram monument here. Night stay at the hotel.

 

Drive to Thanjavur in the morning, after breakfast. On your arrival, reach your hotel, check-in and rest. Later get ready for sightseeing in Thanjavur. Visit Brihadeshwara Temple & Fort, built during the 10th century. The temple and fort exhibit the specimen of the stupendous Chola style of architecture. Afterward, visit the Thanjavur Palace & Museum, adjacent to the temple, masonry built by the Nayakas and Maratha. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, transfer to Madurai for exciting sightseeing. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and visit the 16th-century Thirumalai Nayak Palace. Later visit the largest Meenakshi temple afterward; it has two main shrines, one to the goddess Parvati and the other to Shiva. You can also visit the 1,000-pillar hall constructed by the Nayakas in the 16th century out of solid granite stones. Return to the hotel to spend the night.

Today drive to Thekkady, upon arrival check in to the hotel, and be ready for sightseeing at Periyar wildlife sanctuary, where you can see wild elephants, boar, deer, the great Indian tiger and more; the Mullaperiyar dam, and the spice plantations tour, where one can shop for exotic spices. Overnight stay at the hotel. 

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Kumarakom. Upon arrival, check in to the backwater resort and get ready for excursion. Later visit a stunning paradise of mangrove forests, lush green paddy fields and coconut groves. In the evening, visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, spread across 14 acres of enchanting backwater. This sanctuary is a popular spot for migratory birds and a paradise for ornithologists. Spend the night in the resort. 

Today had breakfast and checked out from the hotel and boarded the Houseboat. Start your backwater cruise in the narrow canals towards Alleppey. This tour will take you to ancient temples, churches, and paddy fields. In the evening, the boat will be anchored in a nearby village where you can take a leisurely walk or try your hand at fishing. Overnight stay at the Houseboat.

Disembark from the houseboat after breakfast and drive to Cochin, upon arrival check in to the hotel and ready for sightseeing. Here you visit Mattancherry Palace, the Jewish Synagogue - one of the oldest in the country & Fort Cochin Beach to see the Chinese Fishing Nets. 

After breakfast check out from the hotel and transfer to Cochin airport and board on Mumbai flight, upon arrival check in at the hotel and the rest of the day is free for leisure. Night stay at the hotel in Mumbai. 

Post breakfast, you are ready for a full day of sightseeing with some important spots. First on the list is the Siddhivinayak Temple, followed by the Gateway of India and the Elephanta Caves - a collection of 5 Hindu and 2 Buddhist caves. Another iconic piece of architecture is the Haji Ali Dargah, which floats in the middle of the sea. In the evening, drive around Marine Drive. Drive back to the hotel for a night stay. 

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
